We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing legal assistance and advocacy for low-income individuals and families. We work to ensure access to justice and fair treatment in the areas of housing, consumer rights, and other essential legal services.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform client intake
  • Gather documents and information from clients for grant reporting purposes
  • Open, maintain, and close case files and applications
  • Draft notices, discovery, motions, and pleadings
  • Prepare and send letters to clients
  • Provide clients with community resource referrals
  • Schedule hearings and client appointments
  • Provide litigation support to the attorneys, e.g., preparation of exhibits and trial notebooks
  • Use telephonic interpreter services and schedule sign language interpreters
  • Track pro bono and volunteer hours, and handle reporting on such hours
  • Keep detailed and contemporaneous time records
  • Perform various other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of a training program to become a paralegal or legal paraprofessional, or equivalent education/experience
  • Minimum of two years of civil law office experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Strong organizational skills, patience, and ability to work well with others
